2024-2025 Artists-in-residence Announcement
International Voices Houston is thrilled to announce our Artists-in-Residence for the 2024-2025 concert season: Cecilia Duarte and Jesús Pacheco.
Together, the mezzo-soprano and percussionist have recently launched a performance project called Arte Puro with the mission of bringing Hispanic music and art to the stage through musical fusion and artistic collaboration. They both have a rich history of performing with International Voices Houston and will be collaborating with us throughout the 2024-2025 concert season:
- Fall Music Workshop for our singers
- February 8 – Arte Puro Recital
- May 3-4: guest artists for “¡Viva la Musica!” – our season finale program sung entirely in Spanish
Cecilia Duarte, mezzo-soprano
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Houston-based mezzo-soprano is a versatile singer that has performed around the world singing a variety of music styles, especially early and contemporary music. She has been greatly recognized for creating the role of Renata in the first Mariachi Opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, commissioned by Houston Grand Opera.
Jesús Pacheco, percussionist
Originally from Spain, the Houston-based percussionist is Executive and Artistic Director of Early Music Houston, and a longtime performer with Ars Lyrica Houston, Mercury Houston, and more. He is also known for his Flamenco and jazz performances.
We look forward to exploring the rich cultures and musical variety within Hispanic music with these inspiring performers!
