¡Viva la Música!

Program Information
This program, ¡Viva la Música!, celebrates the rich diversity of Spanish-language music from across the globe. As the final concert under Artistic Director Mark Vogel, it reflects his long-held vision to highlight cultural and musical variety through one shared language. Featuring rhythms, dialects, and styles from more than a dozen Spanish-speaking regions, the program includes joyful anthems, nostalgic ballads, and vibrant folk traditions. Selections range from Puerto Rico’s Canto’ e libertad to Ecuador’s La lluvia, Cuba’s La perla, and the energetic Colombia, mi encanto, capturing the spirit and soul of Latin America.
The second half continues with Ariel Ramírez’s iconic Gloria from Misa Criolla, followed by lullabies, emotional pleas, and powerful choral works from Argentina, Spain, and Venezuela. The program concludes with Ritmo, a celebration of unity through music. Supported by Artists-in-Residence Cecilia Duarte and Jesús Pacheco, this performance stands as a heartfelt farewell from Vogel and a testament to the choir’s mission: bringing people together through music that honors cultural differences while creating harmony.
